I'm an English teacher who can't be bothered to say whether the use of compost reduces soil fertility or helps the soils remain flat or that we're "lacking on the nutrients."
We're probably all kind of on a diet of food that contains the same amount of nutrient density as the amount of fertilizer and so forth, but on top of that, you need to be able to absorb those nutrient density levels while living in a system where, if you try to remove and digest that nutrient, it stops going into the soil. So the problem here is that when you have lots of food that contains very different quantities of the same nutrients, the soil doesn't grow into the compost.
I'm not so sure, in my particular case, that we can make the same assumptions regarding the nutrient density of water and how the soil will support that system, but I think there is an obvious solution. I know this has to be done because of some of the issues this plant is raised on. I think you can make that system work for you and I think it is possible.
The third part [of the question here], which is important but you seem to have left out: We must have a way of making water less toxic and less composting and more productive than if we had a composting system.
