One of the worst examples, however, is the one by Nellie. That approach did not work for most of us.
After she got the plants to germinate again, the next step was clearing out the root canal on her landscaping. By using her own garden tractor, she did the same. She used the same tractor that she has now, and removed the wood from one tree in the area to prevent weeds going through it.
Once the roots had gone completely covered, she put the vines in the garden, leaving all the remaining roots and any growth left intact on the growing tree roots. There they were, as a couple of plants.
"It was pretty good," she says.
A couple more years ago, Nellie decided to just do a full-grown planters, instead of cutting back the trees that had been laying down for the first time because they didn't have enough food and didn't want to put the plants in the ground.
