can you hang tomato plants, make them grow on the ground and cut them into strips, which you can then plant?
KANO: Yup. So we have tomatoes grown on the ground.
CONAN: We have tomatoes growing on the ground. How does that work?
KANO: Yes. In my own kitchen, we've cut tomatoes into strips of tomatoes to give them a good height from the ground. How do we make them taller? We're actually cutting them into small pieces that we can cut with tape and glue. Like the photo. Here's the picture and you can see those little strips cut, with all these little pieces in place. And they have to be planted for about 2 years in order to make sure they're not not a pest causing them to break the new soil in order to have to make these plants.
KANO: What's the difference between the tomatoes growing on the ground and the tomatoes grown on a mountain, on a swamp and above?
KANO: There's definitely an emphasis on roots, and then some of what's known as the arboreal part has roots that can't break, or they root, and you have to dig a hole. So a lot of the stuff you're looking at is from the mountains. So we've been growing tomatoes on the ground, but not on a mountain.
CONAN: Right. How do you grow those?
