That's the first step to a new approach to plant medicine.
The research team has also been working with plants on a range of questions in order to evaluate their potency and impact by looking for evidence that they work in nature.
It's not as if they're working on a new form of herbal medicine (although they may), but if they can find evidence that they're doing it right to make plant medicine better, then there's a reason why we can be confident that they won't be all that bad.
The researchers are just one of numerous scientists exploring why plants use plants and how it can change your life in ways that are not necessarily what they typically do, says Chris DeWine, a plant health consultant at the University of Chicago's Rose Health Center of Excellence.
This is the third such study on plant health, after the recent one in which researchers found that people found that plants were more effective at helping them maintain weight control, exercise and sleep.
The new papers were published Friday in the journal Public Health Letters.
Other scientists and journalists are also taking a wait-and-see approach, working on a more specific question in order to see whether they have a better theory.
This is all part of a big shift in how many people practice plant health.
